win 777MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he is studying the proposal adjusting the office hours for national government agencies in Metro Manila from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recommended the new schedule arrangement for government workers to ease traffic along Edsa, especially since the major thoroughfare is set for rehabilitation this year.
Through this initiative, the World Bank will invest in the government’s national fiber optic backbone, middle-mile and last-mile connectivity infrastructure.

“Yes, I saw that. Well, we’re studying it. If it works, we’ll do it,” Marcos said.
“But we have to— it’s not enough to talk to the traffic enforcers and the administrators of traffic that have made the suggestion— we also have to ask the commuting public kung practical para sa kanila (if it’s practical for them). So if it turns out that everyone agrees to it, then I cannot see why it will be a problem,” he also said.

In a press conference last January 17, MMDA Chair Romando Artes cited the results of a study showing that the implementation of the modified work schedule among local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region helped improve traffic flow and shorten travel time.
The MMDA and Metro Manila LGUs have been practicing such a work schedule since May 2024.
