Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was most disappointed by teenager Amara Nallo's red card in their 3-2 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday. (More Football News)

Nallo was shown a straight red after hacking down Johan Bakayoko in the 87th minute, just four minutes after coming off the bench for his senior debut in what was the first game that Liverpool have failed to win in this season's tournament.

"It is cruel, but he has never played first team football before and to make your debut in the Champions League is probably the hardest," said Slot.

A much-changed Liverpool twice led with a penalty by Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott's tap-in, but PSV hit back through Bakayoko and Ismael Saibari before Ricardo Pepi's deft finish put PSV ahead in first-half stoppage time.

Liverpool had already secured a spot in the round of 16 and ultimately finished top of the league despite losing. Captain for the night Andy Robertson acknowledged the carnage of the final evening, with 18 games happening at once.
